General Description:
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations of three energy plants and their peripheries, 24 hours/day, 365 days/year; training and leading all other operations while on shift; planning deliveries of all commodities used in water treating qualitative chemistry testing; planning all boiler and centrifugal chiller maintenance and yearly overhaul; leading all safety related duties for the plants, including contractor orientation; ensuring that all safety equipment for the energy plants remains current; and leading in off-hour campus-wide emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED or trade school graduate. Internal applicants must have eight or more years of progressive experience with Alcon, and two or more years as a Maintenance General Mechanic “A”, plus ability to give technical direction to and train other mechanics. External applicants must have 12 or more years external craft experience or Master's license in primary skill. Required skills include at least one primary skill, plus one secondary skill from the following categories: plumbing, millwright, pipe fitter/welder, journeyman electrician, boiler operator, or power plant operator; and Windows Based Computer skills to be able to operate and interpret Johnson Controls Metasys Building Automation System.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred skills include ability to troubleshoot all operational machinery in all three plants; ability to trim three plants together to obtain optimum efficiency from all operating in parallel with each other; and knowledge of procedures for “confined space” egress/ingress and “lockout”/”tagout” in the isolation of rotating equipment.
